Hi All,
Welcome to my newfangled newsletter from substack. I’m trying this platform because, apparently, it’s what all the cool kids are doing these days.
Seriously, when I told a millennial I was using Mailchimp for my newsletter, she guffawed and said, “more like Mail lame.”
And I was like, “That doesn’t even rhyme.”
And she said whatever. Everyone is on substack, it’s how writers today are showcasing their work, and some are even getting paid to do it.
Some except me.
But that’s ok. I’m feeling happy today. Not because I got my second vaccine or because Matt Gaetz. I’ve got some pep in my step because I’ve been following some advice from Write About Now guest Meaghan B Murphy. She recently dropped a new book called Your Fully-Charged Life: A Radically Simple Approach to Having Endless Energy and Filling Every Day with Yay.
Meaghan is also editor in chief of Woman’s Day. She was my editor way back when I wrote an advice column called the “Guy Guru” for Cosmo. Thankfully, one of us grew and matured.
Her book is a tested and true roadmap to living a happier and more energetic life. Not like annoyingly peppy, but the kind of existence where you feel good about yourself and the contributions you’re making to the world. A life of fewer regrets and better decisions.
As Meaghan told me in one of her Meaganisms, “Don’t worry about what-ifs because they’ll keep you from enjoying what is.”
I’ve had a few people tell me how much this conversation meant to them, which means the world to me. Unfortunately, my millennial friend was not one of these people.
She’s too busy getting paid on substack.
